Tools
| Geoeconomics has developed a variety of customised tools for data gathering, performance assessment and strategic appraisal. | Sustainable Economies AssessmentWe offer a structure-outcome methodology to assess local, sub-regional and regional performance in the three areas of sustainable development – economic, social and environmental. The original methodology developed for SEEDA has been improved and now offers a valuable platform for MAA and LAA design and delivery, and for economic, community and planning strategies.
Knowledge Economy Performance AssessmentWe have successfully applied this unique tool for base-lining and benchmarking the knowledge economy in several areas of the UK. It uses a structure-outcome framework to identify knowledge economy trends and their impacts on earnings, skills, enterprise etc. Clients use the tool for LAA and MAA work, strategy development and place benchmarking in the UK and Europe.
Business and Sector StudiesWe carry out in-depth studies of business and sector trends. Our ‘knowledge-intensive business’ models enable us to assess skills, innovation, globalisation and networking trends across all sectors of the economy. Clients use the results to design more business-responsive economic strategies and services. |

Corporate Economic and Social Impact AssessmentWe show how and where big companies contribute to economic development. Our corporate measuring and mapping capability provides new insights into business operations and how they affect building prosperous and fairer societies within the UK and elsewhere. Geoeconomics has also created longitudinal tracking systems for companies looking to demonstrate their value to communities as economic development partners.
|
Large-scale SurveysWe design and pilot large scale surveys. For example, we helped to design the questionnaires for mapping and measuring the social enterprise sector in Wales. Other examples include appraisal and guidance for a street-level intercept survey used by Community Links to measure the informal economy, and evaluation of the graduate tracking survey for Yorkshire Universities. Martin Frost, who directed the geography-based longitudinal survey analysis for the National Evaluation of Sure Start, anchors our technical work.
