Geoeconomics Case Study - Bexley Knowledge Economy

Client testimonial

"The Geoconomics review of Bexley´s knowledge economy was well-structured and provided insights into how knowledge businesses in Bexley work both as part of the Thames Gateway and broader London economies. The analysis was thought-provoking and gained further power when combined with local knowledge to help interpret trends. This local analysis, set within a global context, has given us a firm evidence base for planning economic initiatives and assessing and informing our business marketing campaign."

Graham Hammond, Head of Economic Development, London Borough of Bexley

Located within the Thames Gateway Growth area Bexley´s knowledge economy vision of the future is being pursued through its Economic and Employment Development Strategy, 2005-2010, and through new initiatives such as the Thames Innovation Centre. To check on progress the Council invited Geoeconomics to apply the Economic Performance Review tool to the Borough and to report back on any new policy issues. As an experimental follow-on to the Review, Geoeconomics has used business databases and GIS techniques to create maps of Bexley knowledge-intensive sectors as possible planning-economic development tools.
